I think this is the nicest recipe for brown bread I have ever tasted. ?I make it all the time, I usually omit the sugar as I find it makes it a bit sweet.
12 oz wholemeal flour
1oz wheat bran
pinch of salt
1 teaspoon bread soda
1 dessertspoon brown sugar (optional)
1 tablespoon sunflower oil
half a pint of milk
1 small pot hazelnut or plain yoghurt (approx 125g)
Mix the dry ingredients, add the milk, oil and yoghurt and mix with a knife.? Turn into a greased loaf tin and bake for 40 min approx at 180 degrees.? Turn out of the tin and wrap in a tea towel. Delicious warm or cold.
?This bread is so easy to make ? let me know what you think.
I find my Joseph Joseph Nest bowls invaluable by the way – use them every time I make this bread as well as other dishes such as tarts and crumbles. So I am giving them a shameless plug as you can get them here on my online shop! ?I’ve just had some new JJ goodies arrive and of course, as the shop owner, I have to try one of each out first don’t I?!
Apparently more and more men are baking bread – did you know that? ?My useless piece of info for the day 🙂

Looks delicious, sadly I can’t try it! Yep I could see your trivia being true. Ifound when I was selling the dry mixes that men were very interested in them, especially young men who spent a lot of time in the gym!!!

Apparently it’s true too for the many men who are now out of work. I’ve heard wives saying how they enjoy kneading the dough and baking the bread.
