Win a RabAlpine Jacket and Marry A Farmer!

Are you going to ‘The Ploughing’? Yes, the Ploughing Championships starts tomorrow and with the weather being so good, I’d imagine that even more people will attend over the 3 days than last year. There will be dust rather than mud! I was setting up today and the conditions are perfect. Well, the ground might be a bit hard for the ploughing but perfect for the rest of us!

I’m going to be there for the 3 days selling my ‘Would You Marry A Farmer?’ books at Stand 349, Block 3, Row 24.

I’m also going to be asking people which of these two badges would they like to wear! I’m wondering which will be the most popular! Which do you think? I’m also wondering how many people will wear them around the ploughing and keep them on? It will be interesting to see how they work as a marketing tool too.

I’ve been on radio quite a bit recently too – Beat FM, Clare FM, South East Radio, KFM and Cork’s 96FM. I’m going to be on Midlands 103 tomorrow morning at 9:30 and they are getting a farmer on too – with his views on what he wants in a farm wife so it should be funny. I’m on News Talk on Wednesday morning at 9am and I hope to get a couple more too. It will be interesting to see what sales are like especially as people might be thinking of Christmas gifts already too.

What is always interesting is where people tell me they saw or heard about the book. ?At Tullamore, quite a few said they read my blog or followed me on twitter. A few mentioned Irish Country Living which amused me as they have only mentioned in once or twice, never featured it apart from once on Backchat when I was doing the crowdfunding. It was probably the farming Independent or the farming supplement in the Irish Examiner but I don’t bother correcting. If they remembered it from last year in ICL, it’s good too. Quite a few said they heard me on radio or saw me on TV.

I haven’t got much print press coverage this year as yet but maybe they will pick up on it tomorrow. I’ve sent out press releases but haven’t chased up on any. The lovely Denis Lenehan got a good piece into the Irish Examiner’s ploughing supplement for me – page 2 no less! And I got a nice feature in the Clare Champion too.

And this year, I have a fabulous prize to give away at the Ploughing. Cotswold Outdoor have expanded to Ireland and are sponsoring the Great Outdoors category at the Blog Awards. If you sign up to my email newsletter at the Ploughing (yes, there will soon be an email newsletter going out occasionally), you have a chance to win one of these fabulous warm microlight Alpine jackets. Once I choose the winner and send them your details, you can let them know which colour and size you would like. Valued at ?200, these are perfect for cold winter days and nights – whether you are climbing the Alps or doing farm walks!

If you would like to follow my ploughing adventures do follow me on twitter or check in for the #marryafarmer tweets!
