On the third day of Christmas, win a “Mr and Mrs Farmer” Mug

This illustration is from Would You Marry A Farmer? and I love it. It’s a play on the American Gothic painting and to me, this suggests a couple who have got through all the trials of a farm marriage and as they have never reached the stage of stabbing each other with that pitchfork, they stand united with the pitchfork between them – wiser, older and still in love.

That image is now on this mug on the Zazzle website and the mug can be customised with names or a message. I’m going to put the image on other merchandise too.

On the third day of Christmas

When researching How To Be A Perfect Farm Wife, I came across a story about a farmer’s wife who got flowers from her husband on every occasion during the year – Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, her birthday, their anniversary etc. How on earth did he manage it I wondered, thinking about the box of 600 teabags my husband purchased in the local creamery for my Valentine’s Day gift. He rang their local florist every January and gave her the dates and his credit card details! Not so romantic but very efficient and practical!

On this, the third day of Christmas, there’s a chance to win this ‘Mr and Mrs Farmer’ mug. You can leave a comment here on the blog or on this update on Facebook and just tell me what you do to celebrate your anniversaries or birthdays. I’ll draw a winner’s name on 12th December. Looking forward to hearing both the romantic and the unromantic stories!

Update: Winner is Elaine Tobin from Ireland
